Daylily Fire Fountain

Wow, this plant is truly huge,  At 60 inches tall (152 cm) with 8.5 inch blooms (22 cm) it is really impressive. It is brilliant red above a large star shaped yellow throat. Stamens that are also bright red and a light ruffle set it off. A super hardy dormant, tetraploid that blooms mid season also keeps going and going well into fall with a bud count of 23 on 5 nicely branched branches.  Fertile both ways; this means lots of fun for those that have the space for giant seedlings.

This plant has large fans so an order will be two fans rather than my normal three.

Daylily Eggplant Electricity

This spidery purple daylily really pops in the evening. The velvety darker eyezone really sets off the bright star formed by the bright green throat, creamy midrib and cream/rose halo. It is a 32 inch tall, dormant, diploid with a 6 inch flower. 12 buds on 2 branches.

Daylily Delta Force

Delta force is a big tough plant.  It’s 38 inches  tall with an 8.5 inch bloom.  A fairly early bloomer it is a dormant, tetraploid with 22 buds on four branches.  It is classified as unusual form; it is sometimes wide open and sometimes pinched or twisted.  The flowers are a handsome dark rosey purple with a darker plum purple eye above a green throat.

An interesting name for such a cute miniature. It is

20 inch tall (51 cm) with a 2.5 inch bloom (6 cm). It is a mid season blooming dormant, diploid with extended bloom and sometimes it reblooms. It has 30 buds on 3 branches. Cream with bright fuchsia, feathered eyezone and blue halo above an apple green throat.

Crazy Pierre is a gold spider with a maroon eyezone above a chartreuse throat.  It is 24 inches(61 cm) tall and has a 7 inch(18 cm) bloom. A mid season bloomer and a dormant diploid, it has a spider ratio of 5:1.

Hey, you gotta love the name.  If you love bright baby pink then this is the one for you.  Bright pink self with a hot pink eye that almost looks like lips to me.  She has a little green throat, a white mid rib and a nicely ruffled edge.  The shape is perfectly round and the sepals are a lighter shade of pink and there is an added bonus; diamond dusting.  The flowers are almost 5 inches and this dormant, diploid stands 2 feet tall.  The bloom is midseason with rebloom and it blooms well (20 buds on 4 branches).

A cream to peach colored daylily with a bright cherry red eyezone and a green throat. The plant is 30 inches tall and has 4.25 inch blooms which appear midseason. A dormant, tetraploid it also has the benefit of fragrance and extended bloom. I love the contrast next to a red miniature daylily.

Bat Signal is classified as unusual form/crispate, meaning that the petals are curled, twisted and pinched. It is a peachy cream with a merlot eyezone and a green throat. It is an evergreen, diploid that is 52 inches tall(132 cm) and has a 6 inch(15 cm) flower.

Daylily Variegated Kwanzo

Variegated Kwanzo is unregistered, although it is historic as it was developed from a sport by the father of modern daylilies.  It is a 3 foot tall mid to late bloomer with a three inch, hose-in-hose, double orange/red flowers.  It’s main attractions is the variegated leaves (striped with white or cream).  The plant is also unusual as it is a triploid (this means it has three sets of chromosomes where most have two or four).  This makes it sterile but don’t worry, this plant has the ability to spread by runners.  I would not recommend keeping it in your regular daylily beds.  It is not as aggressive as the green form which has become a “ditch lily” in some places, but, do remove any plants that revert to green as they will spread faster.  The variegation is different with every scapes, some are even pure white.  Keep the ones that are interesting and get rid of the rest in a way that they won’t spread into the wild.  We don’t ship this one early in spring because we want to make sure that each fan that we send has nice variegation.
